Privacy Policy

How LaunchLoom collects, uses, shares and protects your personal data, written plainly. No advertising trackers, no data sales, and you can delete everything from Settings.

Effective October 18, 2026 · Last updated October 18, 2026

01Summary

  • We store your email, the public profile you write, and what you do on the site (products, votes, comments).
  • Visit counts use a one-way hash of the IP address, never the raw address.
  • One essential cookie keeps you signed in. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
  • We never sell personal data. We share it only with the providers that run the service.
  • Delete your account from Settings and everything is removed.

02Data controller

LaunchLoom decides how your data is used and is the controller for the purposes of data-protection law. Contact details are in the last section.

03Data we collect

  • Account: email address; name and avatar from Google or GitHub if you sign in with them.
  • Profile: what you add in Settings: name, username, headline, location, bio, photo, website and social handles. This is public.
  • Products and activity: listings, uploaded images, upvotes, comments, notifications and the weeks you launch in.
  • Visit tracking: for each click on “Visit site”: time, referring page, country, browser type and a hashed IP.
  • Technical logs: standard request logs kept briefly by our hosting provider for security and debugging.

04How we use your data

  • To run the service: sign you in, publish your listings, rank the board, count visits, send notifications.
  • To keep rankings honest: spot duplicate accounts and automated votes or visits.
  • To contact you about your launches and account. Marketing emails, if we ever send them, will be opt-in.
  • To improve the product, using aggregate numbers that do not identify you.

05Legal bases (GDPR)

  • Contract: running your account and listings.
  • Legitimate interest: fraud prevention, security, product analytics in aggregate.
  • Consent: optional emails and any future non-essential cookies.
  • Legal obligation: tax and accounting records for paid features.

06Who we share data with

  • Supabase: database, file storage and authentication.
  • Vercel: hosting and content delivery.
  • Google and GitHub: sign-in, if you choose them. They send us your email, name and avatar.
  • Email provider: delivers sign-in links and notifications.
  • Payment provider: processes paid features and stores card details; we only receive a receipt.
  • Other members see the public parts of your profile when you launch, vote or comment.

07International transfers

Our providers store data in Asia-Pacific and the United States under their standard contractual protections. By using LaunchLoom you understand your data may be processed outside your country.

08Retention

  • Account and profile data: until you delete your account.
  • Products, comments and votes: until you delete them or your account.
  • Visit records: kept in aggregate for maker analytics; hashed IPs are only used to de-duplicate.
  • Backups: up to 30 days after deletion. Receipts: as long as tax law requires.

09Your rights

You can see and edit your data in Settings, ask us for a copy, and delete your account yourself. Depending on where you live you may also have rights to restrict or object to processing and to complain to a regulator. Email us and we will respond within 30 days.

10Cookies and similar technologies

One essential session cookie and a browser setting for your theme. Details in the Cookie Policy.

11Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our providers. Database access is restricted with row-level permissions so members can only read what they are allowed to. We review access regularly and never store passwords.

12Children

LaunchLoom is not for people under 16. If you believe a child has created an account, tell us and we will delete it.

13Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

We do not track you across other sites, so there is nothing for these signals to switch off. We honour them anyway by never adding tracking that would need them.

14Changes to this policy

We update the dates above and announce material changes on the site before they take effect.
